Big Band & Ballroom Dance Themed Cruise

Big Band Ballroom Theme.png

This sailing is a Ballroom at Sea theme cruises that features a full-length production show, "Dancing with the Crystal Stars." The show is held on the dance-themed sailings and is a combination of professional dance performances and the "Dancing with the Crystal Stars" event. The Crystal "stars" are crew members who have used their time off within the week to train in a variety of ballroom, Latin and swing dances. Their rehearsals are filmed to create short behind-the-scenes video segments, which are shown, along with their final performances, during the show. Passengers can also show off their moves in dance showcases.

Passengers can take spins around hardwoods to live music in the Palm Court , as well as in Crystal Serenity's Stardust lounge. Gentleman and female dance hosts are onboard to ballroom dance with passengers who don't have partners. Plus, the Serenity will offer complimentary group dance classes (tailored to beginner, intermediate and advanced levels) on all sea days. These are taught by dance instruction teams, made up of professionals -- often champion dancers -- who also perform several times during the cruise.

Cosmopolitan Lisbon was the center of the world's last great colonial empire. Today the city nostalgically reveres its imperial past while adapting to Portugal's role as a member of the European Economic Community. Although located on the Atlantic coast, Lisbon has the soul of a Mediterranean city with Moorish castles, pastel and white buildings, orange-tiled roofs and luminous blue skies. Set amid the hills and valleys of the northern shore of the River Tagus, it is one of the loveliest capitals in the world.

Glimmering bays, shining seas, powdery sand beaches, towering green hills and unsurpassed shopping - this is St. Thomas. The Danes originally declared St. Thomas a free port, making it the shopping paradise it remains today. You will delight in exquisite imported goods ranging from Danish silver to French porcelain and Swiss watches. While this mountainous island is one of the loveliest stretches of land in the Caribbean, its offerings are not limited to its idyllic tropical scenery. The former pirate haunts, Danish relics and picturesque old buildings are constant reminders of St. Thomas' exotic history, making this a fascinating place in which to sightsee.

Fort Lauderdale

Originally a fort built by the U.S. Army in 1838, during the Second Seminole War, Ft. Lauderdale has little left of its warlike past. Instead the city welcomes visitors with broad beaches and an easy pace of life, plus convenient air and water connections that make the city a perfect place to begin or end a cruise.

The Crystal Serenity

From Cruise Critic...

Launched in 2003, Crystal Serenity is the youngest of Crystal's ships; near-sibling Crystal Symphony launched five years earlier. Most significant about the vessel itself is that Crystal Serenity has benefited from more than a decade of evolution with the cruise line. The ship, carrying 1,080 passengers -- the largest in the luxury segment -- is significantly bigger than its predecessors, and yet, it carries an expanded capacity of just 150 cruisers. Responding to demand, Crystal Serenity offers twice as many penthouse cabins as Symphony. There are two paddle tennis courts instead of one, as tried-and-true Crystal devotees are fiercely competitive in this arena. At heart, it's a modern ship that incorporates plenty of classic elements, and cabins, public rooms and outer decks all feel spacious.

This year, the ship will receive a multimillion dollar refurbishment. The main dining room, to be called Waterside, will feature all open seating; Silk Road will become Umi Uma (a new Nobu venue), Tastes will become Silk (a casual Chinese-inspired venue) and the Lido Cafe will become the Marketplace, with a Brazilian churrascaria taking over the space at night. New tech innovations will include free Wi-Fi for all passengers. Serenity will replace smaller suites with 36 new penthouses and two new penthouse suites, dropping its passenger capacity from 1,070 to 980.
